Retribution Paladin Stats
Retribution Paladin Stats are updated for Patch 4.3. Retribution Paladin Stats haven’t changed much over time. Strength is still king, followed by hit and expertise. The only recent mover has been mastery, which now sits above critical strike and haste.
Mastery is by far the most sought aftersecondary stat once hit and expertise caps have been reached. reforging is almsot purely aimed at mastery at that point, and all hybrid gems seem to shift that direction as well. Because mastery adds 2.1% holy damage for every point of mastery, this is a crucial stat for Retribution Paladins.
Retribution Paladin Stat Ranks
- Strength
- Hit Rating
- Expertise
- Mastery
- Critical Strike
- Haste
Strength
Every 1 point of strength adds 2 attack power. This is the single most important stat for increasing DPS, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Hit Rating
Similar to the last expansion, at level 85, a Retribution Paladin needs 8% hit to reach the hit cap. Reaching this is ultimately your number one goal. Reach the hit cap through gear and reforging.
Expertise
Expertise is also unchanged from Wrath of the Lich King, with 26 expertise required to reach the expertise cap, or 6.5%. Glyphing for Seal of Truth adds 10 expertise, requiring only 16 more expertise if you have that glyph equipped.
Mastery
As mentioned above, mastery adds 2.1% holy damage per point of mastery. Stacking mastery drastically increases holy damage, which delivers a large portion of our overall damage.
Critical Strike
Critical Strike actually sits very close to Mastery in terms of stat weight, but Mastery still wins the overall battle. Critical Strike will be your reforging option when you must choose between crit and haste.
Haste
Haste has been vastly devalued since Wrath, and it is our worst stat at the moment. Don’t gem for haste, and reforge to haste only if it your last option.
This isn’t a contradiction, though it sounds like one.
It is always assumed that you will attempt to reach your hit and expertise caps before you take any optional stat increase. Once you hit that cap you would never take any more.
So hit and exp are the highest priority right up until they are worthless. At that point you choose mastery.
